hello thanks for the fun day on sunday.  i was wondering what nitro car would be good for a beginner, I've raced electric Slash off road and my Tamiya M-03 (its a bright green)
but I was looking at the Traxxas 4-tec ( http://www.traxxas.com/products/nitro/n4tec33/trx_n4tec33.htm ) or this one was suggested by a friend         (http://www.nitrorcx.com/51c22-ultra-fireblue-24ghz.htmlhttp://www.nitrorcx.com/51c22-ultra-fireblue-24ghz.html )

Any recommendations or suggestions would be appreciated

Either of the three would be a fair starter car (never been a fan of that 4-tec though, layout seems unorthodox to me). Remember, you need to have access to some decent part support. Nothing’s worse than having an un-drivable vehicle due to lack of no readily available spares. Some advice on these RTR's...don't get caught up on 'how fast can it go?'. Speed is useless without control, not a good way to start in nitro.

For this reason I would recommend this:

I had the ‘Type SS’ version of this many years ago as my starter. The car hasn’t changed much really. I would certainly recommend this to someone starting out. Parts are easy to come by, cheap, and a great car to wrench on.

Before you know it you’ll be moving into the Serpents, Mugens and Xrays Grin

Good luck!

Hi.  There's a guy on LondonRC that has a new Associated Nitro TC3 for sale.  Good solid car.....tons of parts available for them too.  He is located in Guelph.  Here's the link:

Personally I would not recommend nitro just because all the headaches, But if nitro is what you want rtr like hpi, traxxas will be a waste of money for racing been there done that.
all the cars you seen on the sun were all high end xray, serpant ,mugen
and the tamiya tg-10  is probably the cheapest and you can run in the tcs
