DRCRC Club Rules & Policies
________________________________________
The Durham R/C Racing Club is a club for 1/10th scale model car racing. It welcomes youth and adults and is intended to provide enjoyment and friendly competition.
Track Fees
Fees for race events will be collected on race day at registration.
For Sunday Trophy Race Events, fees will be as follows:
$25.00 Entry Fee (includes entry into one class)
$ 5.00 for each additional class
For Saturday GT2 Shootout Events (a point series):
A per-race fee of $10.00 will be collected prior to racing on the day of each event.
*NOTE: Non-club race events (i.e. TCS Qualifiers) that may be hosted by our club may be subject to changes in fee.
Track Usage
Our track materials consist of 2x4 spruce lumber and strategically placed vinyl bumpers which allow the vehicles to deflect off common impact areas with minimal risk of damage.
Although every precaution has been taken to ensure a safe racing environment for both drivers and their vehicles, we cannot be held responsible for any damage that may occur as a result (directly or indirectly) of the use of our track.
A new way of creating the infield of our track will allow us to experiment with new layouts. As such, we will occasionally alter the layout of the track to provide different challenges and experiences to our members and guests. We welcome constructive input on track layout.

Have Fun
The club is for all who wish to run their cars in a controlled environment and have fun while learning to race. This club is tailored to suit amateurs and youth as a learning tool for future growth in the hobby and to allow seasoned racers an opportunity to stay sharp. It is very important that this remain a safe and enjoyable form of competition, not to be taken too seriously... which should help with the next rule.
Behaviour
Foul language, physical abuse and verbal abuse WILL NOT be tolerated and will result in a ban from the club. Fees paid for current or future events will not be refunded. Re-instatement will be determined by club vote. This is a club for all ages and we encourage family participation. Please set a good example for our younger members.
Radio Frequencies
FM Radio’s are by far an exception at our events. Most racers are using 2.4GHz transmitters and receivers, and as such, there is little need to post a Frequency Board. In the event that you wish (or need) to use FM at one of our events, please check in with the scoring tent at the time of registration and let us know what frequency you will be using.
Marshalling
Corner marshalling is mandatory on race days and greatly appreciated during practice events. Racers from each completed heat are required to marshal the heat immediately following theirs. It is the driver's responsibility to ensure that someone is marshalling in their place if they cannot do so themselves for any reason. Failure to attend your marshal position may result in penalties or disqualification. Children under the age of 12 years will not marshal any races. Please do not yell at the marshals. They are there to help and it is not their fault that your car is in need of assistance. All damaged cars will be removed from the track immediately by a marshal and you will not be allowed to finish a race if your car is broken. Failure to comply will result in disqualification.
During Practice Times, when marshals are not available, it is the driver's responsibility to marshal his or her own vehicle, or have someone do it for them. If your vehicle is stationary on the track, call out to other drivers to watch your location to prevent damage to both vehicles.
Safety
At all times, only Marshalls and DRCRC Officials are permitted on the track surface. Always walk to the outside of the track and the marshals will get your car back to you. Spectators and fans are asked to stay in pit and spectator areas out of harm’s way and so as not to obscure the driver's view. Fail Safe's are mandatory, both electronic and manual are allowed, but is recommended that both are used on the nitro class vehicles. NO PETS ALLOWED. Children under the age of 12 are to be supervised at all times and are not permitted on the track surface.
Pitting
All vehicle tuning, maintenance, assembly, or repair must be done in your own pit area, or in pit lane beside the track. Vehicles are not permitted on the drivers stand for any reason. Tables placed in front of the drivers stand are solely for the convenience of After-Heat Marshalling, or for Tech Inspection. No maintenance is to be done in this area.
Open Practice - Nitro
Nitro Drivers - your cars are fast, heavy, and noisy and have a much longer run time than electrics. Please be considerate during open practice and let Electric drivers have some time to themselves. We may implement "Nitro Only" and "Electric Only" sessions during busy practice days to make sure everyone has fair opportunity to test and tweak their vehicles without the risk of damage.
Garbage and Clean-Up
All members are expected to use the provided garbage containers to help keep the track area, pit area, and spectator area clean. The space has been provided to us by the property owner as a courtesy. We are guests, and it is expected that we clean up when we are finished. Failure to leave your pit area clean may result in penalties for non-compliance.
